Basic Scripture:

Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. (John 3:5 NKJV)

Message:

John 3:5 is a well-known Bible verse that addresses the concept of entering the kingdom of God. It is part of a conversation between Jesus and Nicodemus, a religious leader who came to Jesus seeking spiritual understanding.

The response given by Jesus is significant and reveals important truths about entering the kingdom of God; Born of water and Spirit.

The phrase “born of water” denoted water baptism. Baptism in water is a symbol of taking part Jesus Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection; It represents your new life as a Christian. We bury the old life when immersed and rise to walk in a new life.

The experience of being “Born of Spirit” occurs when a person accepts Jesus as their Lord and personal saviour. The Holy Spirit baptism will equip you with the strength, power, and boldness to overcome sin and fulfill your purpose on earth.

As Jesus said, we have to be “born of water and the Spirit” to enter the kingdom of God. And the baptism of water and the Spirit are the only prerequisite set by God for being born again. The believer is in a right relationship with Him through the “new birth”. It is the way God has established for man to enter His eternal kingdom.

Food For Thought:

To enter into the kingdom of God, you need to be baptized both physically and Spiritually into Christ.
