Basic Scripture:

Now it happened, when Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabs, the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites heard that the walls of Jerusalem were being restored and the gaps were beginning to be closed, that they became very angry, and all of them conspired together to come and attack Jerusalem and create confusion. Nevertheless we made our prayer to our God, and because of them we set a watch against them day and night.(Nehemiah 4:7-9 NKJV)

Message:

Nehemiah faced oppositions from four different corners of Jerusalem; To the north were Sanballat and the Samaritans,to the east, Tobiah and the Ammonites, to the south, Geeshem and the Arabs and to the west, the Ashdidites.

Sanballat and Tobiah constantly mocked and ridiculed Nehemiah and his workers, discouraging them and questioning their ability to complete the task. They even spread false rumors and plotted to harm Nehemiah physically.

However, Nehemiah did not let their opposition deter him. He remained focused on his goal and continued to pray to God for strength and guidance. He also took practical steps to protect his workers and the project. Nehemiah stationed armed guards along the wall to ward off any potential attacks and maintained a constant state of readiness.

Like Nehemiah, we are surrounded by enemies who want nothing more than to stop us from accomplishing the mission that God has entrusted us with. Those enemies will attack our Bible. They will attack our morality and our kingdom principles. Their goal will be geared towards to making us lose heart and quit following Jesus.

It is important for you and me, when we encounter obstacles in life, whether they be people who want to discourage and distract us or experiences like the one we are in right now, we must stay focused and not give into the negativity of others or the negative thoughts that can rule and ruin our own minds.

Food For Thought:

Our ability to overcome challenges, obstacles, and backbiters is dependent on keeping our eyes on the road.
