Basic Scripture:
No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. (Mattew 6:24)

Message:

The word “mammon” refers to material wealth or money, but it also represents the temptation to prioritize worldly possessions and success over spiritual pursuits. Serving both God and mammon implies a divided loyalty, where one’s actions and motivations are driven by a desire for wealth and prosperity rather than a devotion to God and his teachings.

In a broader sense, “serving God and mammon” captures the tension between spiritual and worldly pursuits that many people struggle with. It highlights the challenge of balancing material needs and desires with a deeper focus on spiritual growth and serving a higher purpose. It serves as a reminder to prioritize one’s faith and relationship with God over the pursuit of wealth or worldly success.

It’s never a wrong for a christian to have more money or material wealth. The problem arise from how the finances are acquired as well as what it been used for.

Mammon is a reason our nation is so full of corrupt activities. Our media are all filled with with nudity, gambling and jealousy in other to gain money, power and fame.

Jesus warns against trying to serve both God and mammon, as it is impossible to be devoted to both. If we establish another master in our heart, God will not coexist with that master.

Food For Thought:

Serving the creator and His creation are mutually exclusive.
