Born to Be a Leader

Jan 27, 2022

You were born to lead, to be a role model, a trail blazer and a person of influence.

By definition, leadership means to lead, to give direction, to control, to be upfront, but leadership is more than just leading or being on top of others.

Leadership is service, self sacrifice, a resolve to carry extra luggage…helping others fulfil their dreams. In other words, leadership is rolling up your sleeves and serving others.

The greatest leaders the world has ever seen are men and women who had an intention of serving and consequently ended up at the hem of affairs. This is true from secular to religious world; renowned leaders like Abraham Lincoln, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King Jr, Moses, David, Deborah, mother Teresa, Joseph, and the Lord Jesus were men of outstanding passion for serving.

But Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers in this world lord it over their people, and officials flaunt their authority over those under them. But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must become your slave. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Matthew 20:25-28 NLT)

Leadership is about helping others get their dreams fulfilled, serving to empower people and help them become great in life.

Leadership does not require position, rather it requires a commitment to serve wherever you find yourself, whether as a housewife or as a First Lady, as a church clerk or as a bishop, as a babysitter or a college professor.

Embrace your assignment and use your giftedness to make positive impact on everyone that crosses your path.

Pick up the towel. Serve your generation.

Encourage others, invest in them the knowledge you’ve got. Ignore the critics and those who misunderstand your noble intention; go ahead and help people.

Your life is too big to be the only reason for your existence!
Do what you were born to do; lead by serving.
