Basic Scripture:
That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. (John 1:9-13 NKJV)
Message:
There are many religions whose founders were seen as the light of the world. Are these religious leaders actually the beacon of light for the world? The true light referred to in the basic scripture is Jesus Christ of Nazereth. This imagery of light symbolizes the presence of God in the world, illuminating the path to salvation and truth. Jesus brings hope and clarity to a world that is in turmoil due to sin and confusion, just as light dispels darkness.
The incarnation of Jesus, his coming to earth as a human being, was a pivotal moment in history. It was through his birth, life, death, and resurrection that we were offered the gift of salvation and reconciliation with God. Jesus became one of us so that we could become children of God.
Through faith in Jesus, we are adopted into God’s family. We are no longer slaves to sin and death, but beloved children of God, heirs to his kingdom. This adoption is not based on our own merit or worthiness, but on the grace and love of God, who chose us before the foundation of the world to be his own.
In a world that can often feel cold and unwelcoming, the truth of our adoption into God’s family is a comforting and reassuring one. It reminds us that we are never truly alone, but rather part of a new family that is built on faith, hope, and love.
As adopted children of God, we are called to live out our faith in a way that reflects our new identity. We are called to love others as God loves us, to show grace and mercy to those around us, and to share the good news of Jesus with those who are still in darkness.
Our New family in Christ transcends earthly relationships and offers a deeper connection to God as our Father. There is a need for us to keep in mind the incredible union that we have received through Jesus Christ. May we embrace our identity as adopted sons and daughters of God, living as children of light, shining the love and truth of Christ to a world in need of hope and redemption.
Food For Thought:
Jesus is the true light of the world and the pathway to becoming children of God.
