Basic Scripture: “Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, “We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.” (Numbers 13:31,NIV)
If we are listing men who fall several times in their prime before succeeding in their old age, a name that can’t be overlooked is Sanders. His father passed away when he was a child. He dropped out of school during his seventh grade and left home to go work as a farmhand. He failed in every career that he ventured, he never gave up but kept on facing the challenges in life..
He began selling chicken dishes in a service station during his 40s. He faced alot of challenges, including his recipe being rejected 1,009 times before anyone accepted it. Sander’s “secret recipe” was coined “Kentucky Fried Chicken”, and soon turned into success. After years of failures and misfortunes, Sanders finally hit it big. KFC expanded internationally and he sold the company for two million dollars ($15.3 million today) yet they kept his picture on the brand.
In numbers 13, twelve leaders from the tribes of Israel were sent to spy the promised land. Of the 12, Joshua and Caleb were the ones whose name didn’t fade into oblivion..This was so because, they alone returned from their mission with “a good report.” The other spies’ reports were based on fear; they warned against entering into Canaan because of the fearsome tribes dwelling there. But Caleb urged Israel to move on in faith knowing God would prepare the way.
If Sanders have not kept his faith and gave up on the way, there would have never been KFC. No matter what your facing in life, have faith and keep on pushing.
